Student Activities

In addition to academic achievement, HKUST recognizes the importance of balance, and that extracurricular activities are an important part of University life.

Why do we think it is important?

Extracurricular activities are a crucial element of personality building, and so we encourage students to explore their undiscovered potential through extracurricular participation. As some extracurricular activities may be prohibitively costly, we try to reduce those barriers through funding.

How did we do?

Requests from various units/offices of the University organizations for sponsorship are received from time to time, and as such some interest income can be allocated to these parities.

The student activities we have supported include Student Leadership Training, Asian Universities Basketball Invitation Tournament in Macau, The University Philharmonic Orchestra, The Chinese Orchestra, CSR initiatives and sponsorship of internships at NGOs

How was your money used?

With your donation, we were able to provide more subsidies and opportunities to more students, which allowed them to try different activities and gain more experience during their time in University.

The cumulative donations received from alumni are treated as the principal balance of the Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF) and is maintained in perpetuity. The principal is the basis of sustained annual income from various investments, forming a reliable and viable source of support for many beneficial projects for students.
